Harry loves jerky dog treats much more than anything we've found in a store or even a specialty dog bakery. Click and treat training is even easier when your pup is crazy about the treats!
It's easy to make up the jerky. One recipe Jessica invented is to marinate ground chicken in dried lavender (placed in a tea bag) and water. After marinating overnight in the fridge, she simmers it for half an hour on low heat, and then blends it to a paste. Next, she cools it to room temperature and puts it in a sandwich bag. She cuts the corner to make it a piping bag and squeezes it out in lines onto the dehydrator rack. Then she runs the dehydrator on medium for about 8 hours to make it jerky.
We have a Nesco American Harvest Food Dehydrator.
Maybe one day we'll get a chance to use it to make something for ourselves....
